South Wales Wings... Barry, here is a picture of your completed banner. You can share this web page with your fellow members and they can all take a look at your new banner. You truly have a one-of-a-kind custom, handcrafted banner. For those who want to know the details, it is 4.5 feet wide on a 16 foot pole and made of impregnated ripstop nylon, the same used in billowy spinnaker sails.

Rising Sun Kite... Several have commented that they like this Rising Sun low aspect ratio kite. The plan I used to build it came from Alberto Bonati. It has worked well. I kept pretty close to his original pattern. I only modified by limiting the longest "stick" (the spreader) to a 48" dowel (didn't want any joints). Figured out what proportion the pattern spreader was of a 48" dowel and multiplied that percentage against all other figures. Used 1/4" dowels on leading edges and 5/16" for spreader. Fabric is 3/4 ounce ripstop. The wing tip tails are 1 inch wide 3/4 ounce ripstop. Great light wind kite.

Sept 11th Banner Meaning... This Sept 11th banner was part of my therapy for dealing with this tragedy. The three stars represent the three planes. Each is distorted to reflect the country's stress and anguish.  The blue field represents the field in Pennsylvania where our fellow Americans made the ultimate sacrifice and brought their plane down to save others. The red stripes represent the blood of those who lost their lives, both in the air and those on the ground fighting to save others. The white stripes are the tears of those of us left behind. The banner as a whole represents our country through its close resemblance to our flag. The weaving together of the many colors and shapes shows the strength and unity of our many diverse peoples. As it flies in the lightest of breezes, it reflects the resiliency and durability we have as a nation and people to the changing winds of time.
