What makes Banners By Carveth unique?

Our MEGA banners are over 200% bigger than the standard feather banner. MEGA banners are 4 feet wide and on 16 foot poles. Standard feather banners which are usually 2’ wide on 14’ poles.

Being twice as wide as most banners, the MEGA banners lets the wind ripple across, creating a flag-like wave flowing across the banners.

Custom handcrafted one at a time in the USA. We work up the design, make a full-scale pattern and make every aspect of each banner. We do not mass produce and warehouse banners. We make them up just for you. You have the option to change the colors at no extra charge. We can even modify the design. Often people have an idea and we will work up options at no cost. We can take your design and turn it into a wonderful banner just for you.

Our designs include images like scenes, nature, stained glass windows, flowers, butterflies, humorous, etc. Others mostly use graphic shapes and designs. Some have a paint by the numbers look.

Most of our designs are original, one-of-a-kind. You don't commonly see them around. If you buy a set, it is even less likely that you will see anyone else with the same thing.

Carveth has a style which is reflected in his banners. It's just like two paintings -- they may be of the same subject but each will look very different. They'll have a different feel. Each artist brings out what they see and feel. Carveth favors simple elegance and strong contrast. He is always looking for new ways to express himself.

Carveth's banners reflect a wide variety of subjects. Many prefer a banner display with a common theme. Click here to see some we've done for people. But when you see Carveth's displays in the field, you'll often see an eclectic mix of topics and styles.

We do multi-panel scenes, such as our matched set of Monarch Butterfly wings or our 8-panel MEGA banner Saguaro Sunset set which is about 50 feet long. If you were to lay each banner side by side, the edges would match, the pattern flowing from banner to banner.

We make a variety of sizes. We have some as small as 2' x 2'. "Why have them that small," you say. Each one is a quail. We display them in groups, as a covey of quail. We even have a 16 foot mother quail to go with them. This also enables us to make banners that anyone can afford.

Active Field TestingOne thing that is very unusual and we are proud of, is we have an active field-testing program for our banners. We have test banners flying 24/7 outside our studio in Taos. Take a look at the three blue banners taking a beating in this photo. We'll make duplicate banners but with one item different and fly them side by side. They fly until failure. We then analyze them and incorporate what we have learned into our banners.

Check the pole sleeve. The image flows on to and around the sleeve. I know of no other banners made like this. The sleeve is a long pocket along the edge of the banner that you slip over the pole. We consider this a part of our banners often extending the design onto the sleeve. It adds some sewing challenges and takes more time but we feel it is worth it. Others make a separate sleeve, typically black, to go around the pole and sandwich the banner between it. We feel this detracts from the image on the banner. That concept can work well with graphic designs but we extend our image into the sleeve.

Each comes with the highest quality pole we can find based on our field-testing and evaluation. We are not tied to any manufacturer and will always purchase the best pole we can buy. You'll get the same pole we use. It has survived the best over the years of all the others we have tested. We modify our poles based on our field testing. The 16 footers have a custom tip. This makes them easier to slide up the sleeve, less likely to catch on seams and minimizes pushing through the top of the sleeve. The tips have a hole so you can use the pole for other things like flying tails off the top. For the smaller poles we make ourselves with custom tiedowns.

We use two types of fabrics. A lighter fabric of 0.75 impregnated ripstop nylon, is the same used on sailboats for their spinnaker sails. The light fabric moves with the slightest breeze. The second is SolarMax™ made by Dupont which is almost three times heavier and resists UV rays. This means it’s thicker and therefore has richer colors. I've seen others use materials from regular fabric stores and the same fabrics we use.

Each banner comes with a stake and customize bag. We usually do a silhouette or a  very simplified version of the graphic for the MEGA banners and put it on the outside of the bag so you'll know what is in the bag.
